The Shadow Wolves Forums Global Rules
#1
The rules for the Shadow Wolves message boards are as follows.
I. Content
a. Post/Avatar/Signature Content:
Please remember that the Shadow Wolves forums are intended to be family-friendly, so please avoid posting any pictures that are not family-friendly. For the most part, this rule is based off of common sense, but I will note a few obvious infractions of this rule.
1. Any picture with any nudity in it.
2. A picture of a person and/or object making a crude gesture.
3. Any picture that would obviously be offensive to many people(such as a burning cross, a lynching, mass murder, and so on).

The penalty for violating this rule is proportionate to how it was violated.
To simplify; the penalty for posting a picture with somebody making a crude gesture off in the background will likely be less harsh than the penalty for posting a picture with nothing but a person making a crude gesture.

b. Signature Length:
The maximum signature length is 2,000 characters.
Since the forums will not allow a sig to be any larger than 2,000 characters in length, there is currently no penalty for having a larger signature.

c. Personal Messages(pm)
The Shadow Wolves forums have a pm system that allows people to communicate with other people on the forum, without posting those communications somewhere visible to everybody.
The pm system also follows all rules that apply to normal posting(aside from threadjacking and posting in the wrong forum).
-Note: Spamming through the pm system is less serious than spamming on the forums, but flooding a person with spam through the pm system is against the rules.

The penalties for breaking any of the rules through the pm system
are the same as those for violating those rules while posting on the forums themselves.

II. Posting:
a. Posting in the wrong forum
As you may have noticed, the Shadow Wolves forums have a myriad of different sections for people to discuss different topics in. When you are posting a new topic, please make sure that you are posting the topic in the most appropriate forum possible.

The act of posting a topic in the wrong forum will not normally result in a warning unless you are a repeat offender.

b. Spamming:
For those who are unaware, "SPAM" means "Stupid, Pointless, Annoying, Message". Spam is commonly noted as a reply that does not have anything to do with the topic currently being discussed. The act of spamming is not as serious as the above infractions of the rules, but it is an inconvenience to any person who is reading the topic, so please avoid spamming.

The act of spamming will normally result in a verbal caution for the offending party on the first offense and will normally result in warnings for later offenses.

c. Advertising
Shadow Wolves is a business and as such, we would like to ask that the users of the forum kindly not try to take members away from the site.
Advertising in your signature is acceptable, but only to an extent.

The penalty for advertising will normally depend on how much advertising is done, but will rarely be more than a warning.

d. Threadjacking
Threadjacking is the act of trying to change the course of the dicussion in a topic to something unrelated to what was previously being discussed.

The act of threadjacking will normally result in the offending party being verbally cautioned against doing it again, but repeat offenses may result in warnings.

-Sub-section: Messages aimed at one person
If your message is aimed at only one person, then please send the message to that person through the Destiny Works forums' pm system.
Normally, this act will only result in a verbal caution unless the offender has made a habit of breaking this rule.

III. Language:
a. Bashing:
Please avoid the use of defamatory laguage or verbal attacks against other members of the Shadow Wolves message boards. Remember, everybody is entitled to have their own opinions.
When in doubt as to whether something is appropriate or not, ask yourself three things:
1. "Will a reasonably large amount of people find this message to be offensive?"
2. "Does this message attack a person, or does it simply state my opinion of the person?" To elaborate, saying "X is a moron." is bashing, while saying "I do not think X went about that in the right way." is not bashing.
3. "Would I consider this to be a personal attack if somebody directed a post like this at me?"

The bashing of a member will normally result in the warning of the offending party.

b. Flaming:
Flaming is considered to be worse than the act of bashing by many people because it is normally a combination of bashing and cursing. Please don't flame anybody under any circumstances.
-Sub-section: Racial/Gender-based/Religious Insults
Insulting anybody based on nothing more than their race/gender/religion is completely uncalled for and will normally lead to a harsher penalty then any other form of verbal abuse.

The act of flaming will ALWAYS result in the offending party getting a warning(possibly a more severe penalty, depending on the context of the flaming).

c. Cursing
Swearing is no Big deal as long as it dosen't become flamming.

The act of cursing will rarely result in a warning.

-Sub-section: Masking
The Shadow Wolves forums have a censor for a reason and any word that is censored is also censored for a good reason. With that in mind, the masking of curse words in order to bypass the censor(example: "Hello", changed to "H.e.l.l.o") is also against the Shadow Wolves forum rules.

The act of masking words in order to bypass the Shadow Wolves forum censors will ALWAYS result in the offending party being warned(the penalty could be more severe, depending on the context of the masking and how many words were masked).

These rules will be enforced and updated as needed.
